2014 was a busy year but not as busy as I initially thought. Midway through I year, I stepped back from full time advocate to run a special project for Trend Micro.
Despite the slower pace, I still managed a decent showing. Potential audience through media (TV, newspapers, radio, etc.) was strong at 13+ M. Twitter continued to gain ground at 11+ M accounts reached.
I was on the road a lot this year, traveling just over 135 000 km and visited over 30 cities in 10 different countries on over 100 flights. Top travel stat: I broke 3 roller carry-ons before switching to a Timbuk2 Aviator Travel Backpack (which I highly recommend).
Write more, travel less.
Nice and simple.

Encore talk at AWS re:Invent
The goal of the talk was to show the attendees how you can increase the effectiveness of your security operations as you move to the cloud. Focusing primarily around automatically restoring product capacity, the demo (which–even as a pre-recorded video–failed live) shows how you can integrate security operations into your #devops thinking.
Supporting material and pristine, HD demo videos have been posted at http://markn.ca/2014/11/sec313-updating-security-operations-for-the-cloud/.
