Slug-ify

I often use very long file names for web and local projects. Yes, I know modern filesystems are essentially metadata data stores, but I'm old school. It's hard to lose metadata when transferring files, if the metadata is the file name.

To make that easier, I use a simple "slug-ify" function that removes trickier characters from the file name. Nothing below is recorded or stored in anyway (you can view the source on this page), so it's safe for you to try if you'd like.

Create a URL-safe slug from any string: Add the date to the generated slug
